Today's Haul!

Here is what I managed to haul home....minus the sweetcorn...which we ate!

This evening I will be pickling the beetroot (I have a load more in the fridge from an earlier visit to the plot, which it is high time I got on with!)

I didn't intentionally harvest spuds today, but when tidying up the surface of the bed these presented themselves!!!

Isn't that a wonderful sight! Do you manage to keep the squash right into Winter? mine always seem to rot, even the ones that I ripen that are supposed to keep!

Last year we had some til March....but one did rot.
I saw Joy Larkcom on Gardeners' World saying that she only grows pumpkin Crown Prince nowadays as that one keeps right round til June! So....next year....I'll definitely be growing that one. It is blue....but who cares!

And I did read that if you don't take a good bit of stalk with the squash it won't keep. Two of these snapped off when I was pulling the bines, so those will get eaten first.
